Travel between Los Angeles and Las Vegas on Luxury Party Train by 2013
February 2, 2014 07:52 PM
The X Train will be the first passenger line between Los Angeles and Las Vegas in 13 years, and is poised to attract a fair chunk of the 12 million annual I-15 highway travelers between the two cities. It’s no ordinary train though, as it’s decked out with a full-stocked bar, several HD TVs, and plush recliners along two ultra lounges.
Michael Barron, president and CEO of Las Vegas Railway Express, the company behind the new project, wants train passengers to feel like they’re already in Vegas as soon as they step inside, so they can start the party that much earlier for the 5-hour ride. First-class accommodations and private cars are available, so bachelor parties and business meetings along the way are possible.
Barron’s company has already gotten an agreement with Union Pacific Railroad that approves the X Train’s route. About 25 percent of tourists in Las Vegas come from Southern California, and this new train should provide a nice option for the motorists along I-15. Trips are scheduled on Thursday and Friday afternoons from Fullerton, CA and end in downtown Las Vegas, with two return trips on Sunday, and tickets are estimated to cost $99 one-way.
The train’s maiden voyage is anticipated to be on New Year’s Eve 2013, so get ready to party hard in Las Vegas until Sunday with no worries, since you can avoid driving and take a relaxed trip home aboard the new luxury train.
